Simmons shifts sales, marketing execs
David Perry -- Furniture Today, February 8, 2004
ATLANTA — Simmons has made a series of organizational changes at its headquarters here that it says are designed to position the company for continued growth.
One senior executive has taken on additional responsibilities, while two others are filling new positions.
Kevin Damewood has been promoted to senior vice president of sales and marketing, from senior vice president of sales.
Kevin Osborne, formerly vice president of national accounts, will become national vice president of sales. Lance McElreath will move from divisional vice president of sales to divisional vice president of national accounts.
In the marketing area, Don Hofmann, formerly senior vice president of marketing, has been named vice president of new business development and domestic licensing. Tim Oakhill, formerly vice president and brand manager for BackCare and then Beautyrest, has been named vice president of international licensing. Both are new positions.
In the operations area, Rick Gladney has been promoted to vice president of product development. He played a key role in the recent development of Simmons' new Cable Coil construction.
"Simmons had a great year in 2003 with record sales and profits reported through the third quarter, the recent ownership change to Thomas H. Lee Partners, and Simmons being recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the '100 Best Companies to Work For,'" said company President Bob Hellyer. "The best time to make changes that will help take the company to the next level of growth and success is when things are going well."
