MULBERRY, Fla. — Southeastern retailer W.S. Badcock has been named one of Polk County's Best Places to Work by Polk Works WorkForce 2020.
The Best Places to Work awards recognize companies in the Florida county that are in the forefront of developing quality workplaces for a skilled workforce.
Badcock also has won the Spirit of the Family Award, given by Success by 6, an initiative of the United Way of Central Florida, which recognizes companies that have the most family-friendly policies.
"We are extremely proud of these awards," said Don Marks, Badcock's president and chief executive officer. "Family is a word that Badcock uses to encompass each and every one of our employees, dealers, customers and community members. Our top priority is to ensure that this family and the generations to come have a quality workplace."
Among Badcock's benefits to employees are tuition reimbursement programs and the sponsorship of 14 different college scholarships for their children; training and development programs; a complete on-site fitness center; a registered, on-site occupational nurse; a monthly childcare voucher and an on-site lactation room for new mothers.
Employees are encouraged to volunteer in the community and Badcock offers flexible work schedules to accommodate participation.
