Latex Foam honored by state of Connecticut

SHELTON, Conn. — Latex Foam International was awarded the 2003 Manufacturing Award by the State of Connecticut during the ninth annual Team EDDY Awards ceremony.

The award recognizes LFI's contribution to economic development in the state.

LFI was chosen based on its efforts, in partnership with state and local government, to rebuild its business in a 208,000-square-foot manufacturing facility here, just one year after a fire destroyed its Ansonia facility, leaving 260 employees out of work.

The company is currently operating at 125% of its pre-fire capacity and employs more than 150 people in its state-of-the-art facility.

The company also won the "Best in Show" award from among the 19 organizations chosen as finalists in six Team Connecticut award categories.

"Latex Foam International is honored to receive these two awards," said Stephen Russo, president and CEO of LFI. "I am extremely proud of this organization and its achievements over the past year-and-a-half. Latex foam is quickly becoming the technology of choice for premium sleep products in the marketplace and, thanks to the tireless efforts of our employees and the support we received from Connecticut state and local government officials, LFI can support this market demand and enter its next phase of growth."
