Hillsdale Furniture opens new distribution center in Louisville, Ky.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Case goods importer Hillsdale Furniture has opened a new distribution center here that expands upon its previous capacity.

The 300,000-square-foot building replaces a previous 200,000-square-foot facility in Louisville. Hillsdale is leasing the new site with an option to buy.

Equipped with 50 dock doors, the facility can hold $10 to $12 million in inventory and is geared to ship products to all 50 states. Depending on the time of day the order is received, it can get shipped out on the same day. In the past, items were shipped in 48 hours.

Hillsdale also said it has equipped the facility with the most current information technology for distribution management.

The investment is an addition to the estimated $1 million the company spent to implement new back-office processing systems last year. The company said that investment helps it to more efficiently process customer orders and requests based on customer preferences.
