Craig McAndrews rejoins Mattress Firm

Will take sales management post at bedding retailer

David Perry -- Furniture Today, March 13, 2009

HOUSTON — Bedding veteran Craig McAndrews has rejoined retailer Mattress Firm as a regional sales manager. He is a former franchisee for the retailer and also worked as a consultant to Mattress Firm on a number of projects in recent years.

"Craig provides a tremendous amount of insight for our organization," said Steve Stagner, Mattress Firm's president. "He has seen all sides of the business from owning a franchise to retail consulting. He is very familiar with Mattress Firm's culture, which will aid in his transition and ability to make an immediate impact on the business."

Mattress Firm, based here, is one of the country's largest bedding specialty retailers.

McAndrews began his bedding career in 1992 with Stearns & Foster and Sealy as a sales representative. In 1996, he began working with Simmons as a sales representative and later as vice president of sales for the Southeast region.

In 1999, he moved to Phoenix to open the market as a Mattress Firm franchisee and built the company to 18 stores before Mattress Firm Inc. acquired the business. In 2003, McAndrews and his business partner co-founded the Innovative Retail Group.

After his time with Innovative Retail Group, McAndrews started a new venture, The Retail Institute, a consumer research and sales education company.
