Vegas Market attendance down 4% in February

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 16, 2009

Last month's Las Vegas Market had a 4% drop in buyer and designer attendance from the July market, but World Market Center officials said more than 6,500 buyers visited the show for the first time.

In addition, officials said there was a 19% increase in international buyer attendance over the July market and a 7% jump in buyers from the northeastern United States.

“Rather than be discouraged by talk of the economic slowdown, tens of thousands of buyers, exhibitors and designers were drawn to Las Vegas Market to take advantage of the opportunity to develop new and lucrative relationships that will help fortify their business during this challenging time,” said Bob Maricich, president and CEO of the WMC.

The WMC didn't release specific attendance or registration figures, but said the February market “maintained its historic average of 50,000 registrations.”

The next market will take place Sept. 14-17.
