Kelly Rentals shifting 23 units to Aaron's format in Va., N.C.

ATLANTA — Aaron Rents has reached an agreement with Danville, Va.-based Kelly Rentals to convert the 23 Kelly's Sales & Leasing stores in North Carolina and Virginia to franchised Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership stores.
Because of some overlap in territories, the deal will involve several acquisitions, dispositions, and account mergers between Kelly's, Aaron's and several of Aaron's current franchisees, according to the company. When the deal is completed, Kelly's will operate 15 Aaron's stores in Virginia and three in North Carolina.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kelly's also entered into an area development agreement to open three additional franchised Aaron's units over the next several years, Aaron said.
“Last month marked the 25th anniversary of Kelly's operations, and we are excited to have them bring their knowledge and expertise into the Aaron's system,” said Ken Butler, Aaron Rents chief operating officer.
“We are eager to explore the numerous opportunities that exist in the future to convert other rental operators into Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership franchisees,” he said.
Atlanta-based Aaron Rents has more than 1,557 company-operated and franchised stores in 48 states and Canada as well as a furniture and bedding manufacturing division.
