Omnia adds Kathy Ireland Home fabric line

By Gary Evans -- Furniture Today, March 9, 2009

Based on the success of its Kathy Ireland Home collection, Omnia Leather Furniture here has purchased fabric upholstery company American Elegance for the exclusive production of Kathy Ireland products.

The fabric upholstery company launched two lines at the Las Vegas Market earlier this month: Kathy Ireland Home ACafé by American Elegance and Kathy Ireland Home JduJ by American Elegance.

Retail price points for a sofa range from $1,400 to $5,000. Products are available in more than 30 grades of fabric in hundreds of patterns and styles, as well as a variety of tailoring and designer choices, the company said.

American Elegance ships to western states and key metropolitan areas on the East Coast.

The American Elegance plant in City of Industry, Calif., will be closed and its operations will be incorporated into the Kathy Ireland Omnia facility here, and its sales team will combine with Omnia's. The line will be integrated with Kathy Ireland Home by Omnia but will be presented as separate offerings with distinct designs.

KI Home ACafe is by Ireland's friend Chef Andre Carthen and KI Home JduJ is by award-winning landscape designer Nicholas Walker.

The KI portfolio of brands has an array of products that range from bedroom and dining room to wallpaper and window treatments, and now upholstery. An earlier association between Kathy Ireland Home and Mississippi-based upholstery maker Style Line Furniture was discontinued.
