Saloom launching Gardner Contemporary

GARDNER, Mass. — Casual dining producer Saloom will launch a new division named Gardner Contemporary this spring with a collection of contemporary dining pieces inspired by modern, minimalist sculpture.
Saloom said the line will combine traditional craftsmanship in solid woods and bold contemporary design.
It will be introduced at the April High Point Market, where the company shows in the International Home Furnishings Center, H-1015.
“We are proud to be a part of the long tradition of fine furniture building here in Gardner, but we feel stifled sometimes by the traditional design norms. So with GC we are throwing the design doors wide open,” founder Peter Saloom said in a news release.
Gardner Contemporary will include 10 dining groups, with four new finishes developed for the line. Production will begin this summer.
“I am proud of our aggressive approach to business during these tough times. Rather than retreating, we are moving aggressively into a new market sector. The recession has provided new capital assets at steep discounts (and) we feel this is a good time to make a strong move into a new market,” said Linda Saloom, business operations manager.
Retail price points for a five-piece Gardner Contemporary dining group will start at $3,000 to $3,500. Saloom has set up a Web site at www.gardnercontemp.com to offer a preview of the line.
