Ohio show sees more exhibitors

WALNUT CREEK, Ohio — More than 100 exhibitors, a 20% increase over last year, showed at the second annual Ohio Hardwood Furniture Market here earlier this year.
The show had exhibit space of 125,000 square feet, a 200% increase over last year. More than 2,000 visitors attended the show, including buyers from 31 states and Canada.
Show organizers attributed the market's success to increased interest from buyers looking for domestically made furniture and manufacturers using eco-friendly practices. According to the Ohio Forestry Assn., three times as many hardwood trees are planted in the state than are harvested.
The show is hosted by the Hardwood Furniture Builders' Guild, made up of about 250 furniture makers in Holmes County, which has a tradition of Amish furniture making.
