Several High Point exhibitors in new spaces

Staff -- Furniture Today, March 30, 2009

A number of companies will be in new or expanded locations at the High Point Market, which opens April 25.

Among them:

• Accent furniture and décor supplier Coast to Coast Imports will introduce itself to the industry in a showroom in the International Home Furnishings Center, C-759.

"We have a strong model," said Mat Marsh, president of Coast to Coast, which was formed last year.

"We specialize in accent furniture and stock our 100,000-square-foot warehouse in Memphis, Tenn., which is centrally located in the U.S.," said Marsh. "As a result, while our competition takes months to ship, we can ship within weeks, or faster."

The company's product categories include accent chairs, side tables, bombé chests, media cabinets and wall décor/mirrors.

"A lot of our pieces are hand-painted, in muted tones, and there is a lot of wood and wood veneer," he said. "The price points are largely middle range, right in the sweet spot. All of this, with quick ship as our forte."

• Casual dining manufacturer Dinec will occupy a new and renovated 15,000-square-foot showroom in the Atrium on Main.

The company, owned by Bermex, will use the space to introduce collections of audio and entertainment centers, bedroom furniture and a new series called Country and Traditional Chairs.

Dinec officials said the new permanent showroom will help the company improve its business relationship with East Coast customers. Dinec will serve breakfast each morning during market from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and wine and cheese 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

• Clock and furniture manufacturer and Ty Pennington licensee Howard Miller will be in a new space in the IHFC, C-404. It formerly showed at 200 N. Hamilton Street.

"We needed the additional space, especially in view of our launch of Howard Miller Signature Home Furnishings by Ty Pennington. Plus, our customer base spends the majority of its time at market in the main building," said Marketing Director Mark Siciliano.

The Signature line by home décor expert and "ABC Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" host Pennington has some 200 pieces. It was designed to allow consumers to mix furniture and accents while creating a professionally decorated home look.

Furniture in the line includes dining room, living room and bedroom furnishings, including upholstered sofas and chairs. Pennington will be at market April 26-27 to help launch the line.

• Case goods resource Martin Home Furnishings will be in a new showroom in Furniture Plaza, space 512. Its newest brand, Curt Christian Design by Martin (formerly Highland Design), will make its East Coast debut.

"High Point is a staple market that our East Coast customers find essential," said Karl Eulberg, vice president of sales and marketing.

"We are thrilled to have upgraded our presentation and look forward to showcasing our new products in our Furniture Plaza location," he said.

Rowe Fine Furniture will move up one floor in the IHFC to C-1103. The 43,000-square-foot space is about 11,000 square feet larger than its former showroom and will allow the company to show its Rowe, Clayton Marcus and Robin Bruce brands together. Previously, Clayton Marcus had occupied a separate 22,000-square-foot space.

The company said the move is in line with its mission to provide buyers with a selection of traditional to contemporary styles and customized upholstery options.

"The strength of centralizing our manufacturing, customer service and High Point showroom translates into a more seamless business relationship with our customers," said Stefanie Lucas, president and CEO.

Spagnesi spa, a manufacturer of leather upholstery based in Tuscany, Italy, will make its High Point Market debut in a showroom in the IHFC, space H-538.

"We specialize in furniture made in 2- and 3-millimeter hides, tailored with very thick threads. It's a very special tailoring only done in Tuscany," said Mauro Bracciale, the company's vice president of sales and marketing.

The finely tailored line, with sofas retailing at $2,999, represents the "best" portion of the company's good-better-best merchandising lineup. "But our price points reach down to $1,199 in our 'good' program," said Bracciale.

Spagnesi plans to bring 32 styles to market.
