Valspar global wood coatings names Hendrickson group VP

MINNEAPOLIS — MINNEAPOLIS— Gary Hendrickson has been named group vice president of finish and coatings supplier Valspar Corp.'s global wood coatings business. He continues with his existing responsibilities as president of the Asia Pacific region.
He replaces Hugh Cates, who retired from Valspar in March. Hendrickson joined the company in 1994 and was named president for Asia Pacific and corporate vice president in 2001.
His new position is one of several key executive promotions at Valspar.
William Mansfield has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer, over all business groups. Since joining the company in 1984, he has managed Valspar's packaging coatings business, and in 2000 took on the additional responsibility of architectural coatings.
Steve Erdahl has been promoted to executive vice president of coatings and will lead the packaging, coil, general industrial and related industrial coatings businesses. After joining Valspar in 1974, he has spent the majority of his career leading the industrial coatings business, and was instrumental in the acquisition and integration of Lilly Inds. into Valspar.
Don Nolan has been named group vice president of global packaging coatings, after serving as corporate vice president for packaging coatings since 2001.
Michael Brandt, who continues as president of Valspar Europe, has been named a corporate vice president.
