Interline Italia offers LTL program
By Joan Gunin -- Furniture Today, April 22, 2004
AT THE MARKET — Leather upholstery producer Interline Italia is launching a less-than-truckload dealer support program that provides for minimum purchases and special orders.
"Our new program, called Interline Italia LTL, allows a retailer of any size to offer Italian-crafted upholstery, while eliminating the need for the dealer to commit to a complete container purchase," said Johne Albanese, president and CEO of Interline Italia North America. "The retailer can purchase as few as 10 seats."
Dealers also can receive special-order goods without having to build full containers, he said. Retailers can choose from over 100 frames and 150 leather, microfiber or fabric covers.
"With so many limitations today," Albanese said, "we are doing our best to understand what the retailer needs and to provide it. This program takes a quantum leap in that direction."
Interline Italia LTL was developed in partnership with a transportation company that will handle incoming containers, including cross-docking and delivery.
"To simplify things, the customer pays only one price and this includes delivery to the dealer," Albanese said.
Interline guarantees a maximum 12-week delivery.
"Our commitment to this program is very strong," Albanese said. "If we have a container that needs to leave to uphold our delivery promise, it will leave, full or not."
Interline plans to import seating from China, but the new LTL program is applicable only to its Italian-made collections.
