HIGH POINT — HIGH POINT— The design firm Jack Schmitt & Associates has agreed to work exclusively for AICO, an importer of case goods, entertainment, home office and occasional furniture.
Schmitt has worked with AICO but now will play a more comprehensive role in product design and development.
Both companies are growing.
Schmitt & Associates is moving from an 1,100-square-foot facility in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., to a 17,000-square-foot building in the same city. Schmitt's team will include eight to 10 designers, as well as an electrical engineer and a mechanical engineer.
"AICO's growth has been very rapid and impressive," Schmitt said. "In order for us to keep pace with this growth, I am committing my organization to AICO's future."
AICO recently moved from a 130,000-square-foot facility in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., to a new 320,000-square-foot warehouse and headquarters in Pico Rivera.
"Jack knows how to take my ideas and expand and enhance them," said Michael Amini, AICO chairman and CEO. "We are pleased with the long-term commitment he is making to AICO."
