HIGH POINT — HIGH POINT— Jack Walts and Linda Ledet won the top awards from the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. at the Furniture Industry Awards Gala held during market here.
IHFRA presented the Pillar of the Industry award to Walts of Keller Furniture Mfg. He is recovering from a fall and was represented at the market banquet by his three children, Tommy, Terry and Jill.
The group's Harold P. Braun Distinguished Service Award was presented to Ledet, who has been director of operations for IHFRA for five years. She is also executive director of the Florida Home Furnishings Representatives Assn., based in St. Petersburg, Fla., a position she has held since 1977.
She came to IHFRA at a time when the organization's future was in jeopardy and was able in one year to turn it around to help establish it as a viable professional association serving its 2,000 members and the furniture industry.
Ledet said upon accepting the award, "Representatives are the heart and soul of the industry. My passion and vision is for representatives to receive the respect and recognition they deserve."
