AT THE MARKET — Montana outdoorsman and artist Dick Idol's licensing program continues to add product this market, including Country Camp, a big addition to his Northwoods furniture collection with Klaussner Furniture Inds.
Country Camp joins last spring's introduction, Woodland Forge, in Northwoods, a collection inspired by the refined rustic sophistication of the Great Camps of the Adirondacks.
The group also includes coordinated lighting and accessories.
Klaussner is introducing around 30 case goods SKUs, including bedroom, dining room and signature accent items, as well as new coordinating upholstery. Country Camp, which draws inspiration from the days when rustic barns and country farmhouses graced the landscape, blends the straight-line simplicity of Arts & Crafts styling with casual country farmhouse motifs.
Solid white oak frames and hand-rubbed distressed finishes mix with x-motif planking, exposed tongue-and-groove construction, aged leather accents and seeded glass to give the collection a rustic elegance and antique feeling.
Colored finishes in sage, cream, and black add an eclectic feel to the group. Hardware is rustic, with strap hinges and turned wood and metal knobs.
"Based on the continued strong performance of the Dick Idol line across the United States and Canada, our retail partners now understand that the outdoor lifestyle is not a niche business limited geographically or seasonally," said Jeff Davis, Klaussner vice president. "We're targeting the huge group of consumers who live a casual lifestyle, seek comfort, and love the outdoors."
Beyond furniture, Northwoods includes a comprehensive selection of accessories designed to help retailers effectively tell the outdoor lifestyle story on their floors. New for Country Camp are:
-
Decorative accessories and lighting from Pacific Coast Lighting and Cape Craftsmen.
-
Wall art from Next Dimension Studio, focusing on "sofa- sized" pieces in the $125 to $399 retail price range with images inspired by Idol's passion for the outdoors from artists such as Luke Frazier, Jay Moore, Brian Wahl, and John Hopper.
-
Area rugs from Capel, which is introducing two braids and three flat-woven rugs in a variety of sizes and colors to coordinate with new upholstery from Klaussner.
-
Cold cast wildlife sculptures from Big Sky Carvers, which is adding two Dick Idol originals to give it a total of 11.
-
Home florals from Natural Creations.
High Point-based Dick Idol Ventures expects to announce other licensing deals for the brand in products including bedding and bath, apparel, outerwear and footwear. Earlier this year, Dick Idol Ventures launched a new printed floor mat and accent rug collection from Bacova Guild.
