Pouring out 9 million pieces a yr.

ARCHBOLD, Ohio — Sauder Woodworking makes flat-pack furniture at its headquarters complex here, with more than 6.5 million square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space.
One of the most technologically advanced furniture production facilities in the world, Sauder's facility employs 3,000 people in three shifts, which amounts to a pretty thorough "remix" of Archbold, population 2,000, every eight hours.
Supplying big-box retailers, Sauder is a logistics enterprise as much as a production operation. Consider these facts:
-
The company receives 320 truckloads of particleboard every week.
-
Every day, 115 truckloads of finished goods are shipped.
-
The company has a fleet of 200 fork-lift trucks representing an investment of $5 million.
-
More than 9 million pieces of furniture — 700 million pounds — are shipped annually.
