Variety drives metal

HIGH POINT — Metal bed producers are high on their new offerings this market.
A number of producers are bringing out new four-poster beds, which they say give consumers an easy way to make dramatic style statements in their bedrooms.
Fashion Bed Group, the sales leader, is showcasing Spire, a low-profile, transitional design that comes in two finishes — black and mahogany. The bed has uniquely shaped decorative finials on top of the four slender posts.
"The Spire bed is a light and graceful piece of furniture that will add a distinctive touch to any bedroom," the company says.
Things also are looking up at Powell, where a wood-and-metal poster bed takes style to dramatic heights. The bed, Hills of Provence, reflects the richness of Mediterranean French country living, according to Powell. Top surfaces are hand-distressed, with hand-carved posts and hand-wrought steel panels. It retails at $599.
Other Powell introductions include Montreal, a French garden style bed retailing at $99, and Wayland, a daybed in transitional styling that features a geometric lattice pattern in distressed pewter. It targets the $179 retail price point.
Charleston Forge is getting in on the "highlights" with a new canopy bed that is an expansion of its Shaker collection. The Shaker bed is available in both queen and king sizes and a variety of finishes.
New platform beds are being introduced by Comfort Designs, with a padded, contemporary headboard, and Metropolitan Designs, with fancy African woods.
Amisco's Apollo bed offers clean, simple, contemporary style that fits any home décor, the company says.
