Art Van Furniture opening first sleep shop
More will follow, according to retailer

WARREN, Mich. — Michigan retail powerhouse Art Van Furniture is opening its first freestanding bedding store in June, with more stores to follow.
The first store, almost 5,000 square feet, will open in Canton, Mich. It will carry an assortment that includes King Koil, Sealy, Sleep to Live (Kingsdown's new bedding line), Tempur-Pedic and Simmons, company officials said.
"We are selling much more than just bedding at these new stores," said Gary Van Elslander, president of Art Van. "Our goal is to educate our consumers on the importance of great sleep and that the quality of a person's sleep is directly linked to the overall quality of their life. We were amazed by what we learned through our research, and we are very excited to share that knowledge with the Michigan communities we have served for 50 years."
A name for the new sleep shops will be announced shortly, company officials said. They said they have identified growth opportunities for the stores in Michigan's Ingham, Wayne, Oakland, Kent and Livingston counties.
In addition to carrying mattresses, the store will carry complementing items and services, including pillows, natural sleep aids, aromatherapy products, mattress pads and related goods.
If customers need other home furnishings, the store can help them make additional purchases of an interactive online kiosk that features the breadth of Art Van Furniture's line, the company said.
The Art Van bedding stores will feature the Sleep to Live diagnostic bed and computer system, which uses data gathered from millions of body profiles to help consumers determine the right sleeping surface for their body type, the company said. Consumers receiving a profile are more confident with their bedding selection, officials said.
The new sleep shops will benefit from Art Van's strong brand identity in the better sleep business, the company said.
Art Van is one of the top sellers of mattresses among furniture stores, according to Furniture/Today retail research. The retailer operates 30 stores in 29 Michigan cities.

Art van hasn't sold serta in over 15 years. How old is your mattress? Are you sure you aren't talking about gardner white?

Art Van is not committed to customer satisfaction andI intend to tell everyone that I know. I can not sleep because the mattress that I paid over $1300.00 for is to soft and the operational manager refuses to let me exchange it for a semit-firm. Art Van says it sticks by it total customer satisfaction and yet it does not. I am proof - I have not had a good nights sleep matter of fact a full nights sleep since the set was delivered and yet I can not speak to anyone regarding my problem because I can not get further then the operational manager. Who refuses to let me exchange this Serta plush for a semi firm. It's a shame that a company this large can only say that they care about their customers and when put to the test they turn their back on the customers that keep them in business. As tough as times are right now you would think they would utilize their guarantee and see to it that their customers are totally satisfied. I mailed a letter to the owner and the president and 30 days later still have not received a response.

Shopping for a new bed can be a grueling experience.
It is a jungle out there with so many gimmicks and misrepresentations.
I have sold Hastens Beds for the past six years in California; in fact I was the Managing Director of California’s first Hastens store. Selling these fantastic beds has been nothing but a passion since day one.
Why? Because I have been privileged for so many years now to witness what a profound difference a real good night’s sleep makes in our client’s lives. We do offer crib mattresses to. It is crucial to keep babies away from chemical flame retardants such as PBDE’s and Formaldehyde.
For those of you who do not know, Hastens is the ONLY bed sold in America that contains nothing but 100% natural filling materials. Cotton, Wool, Flax, and Horse-Hair.
A bed that uses foam as a filling material can NEVER be hypo-allergenic.
The reason is that foam traps moisture, and with moisture comes mildew, mold, bacteria, ..A real Disneyland for bed bugs, bed and dust mites.
I have seen everything from allergies that have gone away, to clients with severe to moderate pain issues that have found relief overnight in a Hastens. Obviously there are no guarantees for this. There have also been so many clients who never realized how much their bad sleep affected their daily activities. One thing that I CAN guarantee though is that when it comes to selecting a new bed for your health, a Hastens is your best shot.
Don’t make the mistake believing that a more expensive Hastens bed is healthier for you. When it comes to the materials used it is all the same in all of them, so the health benefits are the same. You will spend 10 days per month (one third of your life) in natures own materials.
When it comes to comfort, well you have to be the judge of that.
Never buy a Hastens bed without trying it first. It is probably the last bed you buy in your life.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding beds in general or Hastens in specific.
If I can help you find a bed that is the right one for you, I have done my job.
