WHFA plans 2nd academy
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 11, 2004
ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Because of strong retailer interest, the Western Home Furnishings Assn. will add a second offering of its inaugural WHFA Academy.
A program held in Los Angeles on April 1 will be repeated in Seattle in early October. A specific date and site haven't been set.
"We anticipate a very powerful educational experience for all of the attendees. We know there is a need for regional educational programs and are excited by the response to our first Academy event," said Sharron Bradley, WHFA executive director.
Two concurrent, one-day workshop tracks are designed to help retailers "create extraordinary results." One will focus on sales management, specifically on building and sustaining a high-performance retail sales team, and the other on operations management, or effectively managing back-end operations to maximize profits.
Ed Bruenig of La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries, Tempe, Ariz., recently attended an operations management workshop presented by the same facilitator and found it worthwhile. "The best way to describe it would be to say it was thought-provoking. There was so much content, ideas were coming as fast as I could write them down," he said.
