Furniture/Today to honor Retail Giants of Bedding
Awards dinner a highlight of May 5-7 Bedding Conference

HIGH POINT — Two furniture stores and two bedding specialty retailers have been named Retail Giants of Bedding by Furniture/Today and will be honored at the newspaper's fourth annual Bedding Conference next month.

The furniture store honorees are Art Van Furniture of Warren, Mich., and City Furniture of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Bedding specialists American Mattress of Elmhurst, Ill., and Mattress Discounters of Virginia Beach, Va., are also being honored.
All four will be saluted for their mattress achievements at a gala awards dinner that is one of the highlights of Furniture/Today's Bedding Conference, set for May 5-7 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs, Fla.
Executives with those four retailers will be on hand to accept the Retail Giants of Bedding awards, which will be presented at a banquet on May 6.
"Each of these retailers stands tall on the mattress landscape," said David Perry, Furniture/Today's executive editor, who is coordinating the Bedding Conference. "Our honorees have pursued different paths to success, but share a dedication to professional, customer-oriented business models. We are looking forward to honoring them for their outstanding performance in the mattress category."
The conference features a retail-oriented program that kicks off with a keynote address by Steve Stagner, president of Houston-based Mattress Firm. Noted sleep doctor Michael Breus is another featured speaker.
Panel sessions with leading bedding retailers, producers and suppliers are also slated. Other speakers include Leggett & Platt executive Mark Quinn, Retail Institute founder Craig McAndrews, and Gerry Morris of the Sleep Trust Guarantee.
