Palliser Furniture's Art DeFehr inducted into Canadian Hall of Fame
Honored for manufacturing, exporting accomplishments

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Palliser Furniture President and CEO Art DeFehr has been inducted into the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Hall of Fame.

In his acceptance speech at a gala dinner in March, DeFehr credited his father — Abram Albert DeFehr, who founded the company in 1944 — his brothers, who were his partners, and the Palliser management team for the company's longevity and success.
Palliser has operations in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Indonesia and employs more than 2,000 people. Today, it is primarily a domestic upholstery company focusing on leather, with distribution throughout North America.
Since taking over as president and CEO in 1984, Art Defehr has won recognition for his business leadership and also for his contributions to humanitarian projects around the world. He led the United Nations refugee work in Somalia during its war with Ethiopia, and also has had assignments in countries including Cambodia, Bangladesh, Ethiopia and the Soviet Union.
