New at Market: Bedding/Metal Beds

The Apollo metal bed offers a clean, simple, contemporary style that fits any décor.

BACKSAVER PS 2-400

Wonderlite pillows, retailing from $89 to $99, feature visco-elastic foam. Dream Topper is a visco-elastic topper in molded foam retailing from $299 to $499.

BEMCO SLEEP 111 E. Green Dr.

In this Olympic year, Bemco is rolling out a new USA Gymnastics newspaper ad kit. It offers a variety of ad layouts, including one that features current world champion Paul Hamm, the first American to achieve that honor. The ad materials include a "Mattress of Champions" tag line. The ad kit will be offered through the Olympics later this year.

Introductions include two new visco-elastic models, which feature visco on an innerspring core. Retails are $499 and $599.

CHARLESTON FORGE 1690 English Rd.

Expanding its Shaker collection to include a canopy bed, available in queen and king sizes and various finishes. Other introductions include the Manchester bolster bed and the Regale bed, made in Italy.

COMFORT DESIGNS IHFC D-729

Jamie is a new platform bed featuring a padded contemporary headboard with contrasting button detail. The metal platform is offered in a Silverado powder-coated steel finish.

ENGLANDER PS 100

Introducing a new marketing campaign, e=mc2, which equates sleep energy and mattress comfort. The company is introducing a mattress classification and rating system for its bedding that will make it easier for consumers to differentiate between the various products in the line. The system evaluates each sleep set on 70 key features and rates it on a scale between 1 and 1000. This will enable Englander retailers to increase sales and to increase their average unit selling price, according to the company. The new program also includes in-store signage and display materials that can be used to create Englander bedding galleries.

FASHION BED GROUP IHFC C-700

Spire bed is a low-profile transitional design that comes in two finishes — black and mahogany — that allow for a variety of design options. The bed has uniquely shaped, decorative finials on top of four slender posts.

GOLD BOND IHFC M-1318

Adding a new top-of-the-line model to its futon line, retailing at $499 in full. The new model is cushioned with visco-elastic foam and latex.

KINGSDOWN IHFC H-704

Celebrating its centennial with a partnership with the Children's Miracle Network. It provides its retailers with a chance to help hospitalized children through their support of The Kingsdown Miracle Kids Campaign. Donations are made in the name of customers who visit Kingsdown retailers for a two-minute DormoDiagnostics assessment.

METROPOLITAN DESIGNSIHFC D-341

The Source platform bed is done in metal and exotic African wood, with lights in the frame that shine on the floor. It retails at $3,000. The Pelazio features African wood and steel. And the Leopold bed is done in traditional styling with numerous details, including acanthus leaves. It retails at $4,000.

POWELL CO. NFM 100

Montreal features garden styling and a pinched post-and-ball design on a crest rail. It is finished in copper/bronze with silver tipping and retails at $99. Hills of Provence is a wood-and-metal poster bed that combines casual country styling with the detail of an antique. The antique black finish has terra cotta highlights. It retails at $599. The Wayland daybed is done in transitional styling with a geometric lattice pattern, and retails at $179.

SEALY Office Parkway, Trinity

• Introducing a new Sealy model, the Eureka, designed to give retailers a strong model for bedding promotions. The model is part of the Posture Premier group.

• Also, boosting its offerings in the specialty sleep arena with new alternative sleep models that will be previewed at market.

SERTA CTT, 2nd Floor

Featuring its 2004 lines, protected with FireBlocker, an open-flame resistance system that exceeds existing and proposed residential open-flame mattress standards, according to the producer. Serta says that "every 2004 Serta mattress" incorporates its proprietary FireBlocker system. Serta is the first national bedding producer to put new FR protection in its bedding lines.

THERAPEDIC N.C. Home Furnishings Center, Trinity Street at Green Drive

Expanding its offerings in specialty sleep with its MemoryTouch line of visco-elastic bedding. The four model lineup features a standard model with a zippered cover, a step-up model with a cotton cover and channel quilting, a higher-profile model with a tack-and-jump quilt, and a top-of-the-line model with a three-inch visco topper in the upholstery layer over the core visco unit. Retails range from $999 to $1,999.

UNITED SLEEP PRODUCTS 114 N. Main St., 3rd floor

• Sova is United's first visco-elastic foam product made with Sensus foam. It features three inches of Sensus foam and is covered with a removable terry-like fabric. It retails at $899.

• The Alianna offers two inches of visco-elastic foam and an encased coil unit. It retails at $1,049.

• The Simmons Futons program showcases the immediate availability of the Superbox program, four complete futon sofas, which ship in ground-shippable cartons. Retails range from $339 to $399.

• The producer is also introducing an Ad-Maker kit celebrating its 10 years of offering "Brand name quality for less."

WEIL'S SLEEP PRODUCTS 404 Radio Building

Introducing its Miracle Mattress, cushioned with Memortex, a non-foam, pain-, stress- and pressure-relieving material that reacts to body pressure and has extended memory. It creates a sensation similar to weightless sleep, according to the producer. The Miracle Mattress Premium has a 20-year limited warranty. The Miracle Mattress Ultra, with 50% more Memortex, has a lifetime limited warranty. Expanding the line with a new model, the Ultra Duvet, a Eurotop model with more Memortex than the Ultra, which has been the company's best-selling model.
