Montage offering retailers protection plan guarantee

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Montage Furniture Services, a new player in fabric and wood protection plans, is offering retailers a written guarantee that will compensate dealers if the company's service fails to meet standards.

Industry veterans Alan Salmon, former business director of Guardsman, and John Rose, former sales and training director for StainSafe, have joined with service provider Montage Inc. to offer retailers a range of furniture protection plans. Salmon is president of the new company and Rose is vice president of sales.

"Montage Furniture Services was created to bring to the market excellent service in a category which, in recent years, has suffered from poor service," said Salmon. "If our service standards fall below what we have promised, we will pay our customers back part of what they spent with us."

MFS has its own product line and offers programs for fabric, leather and bedding, as well as combination plans that cover fabric, leather and case goods on one protection plan. The company offers customized plans for larger retailers and administrative services for retailers with their own protection plans.

"Furniture protection programs are an integral part of a retailer's profitability, and we will provide the type of service that turns furniture stores' clients into lifelong customers," said Ken Ehling, founder of Montage Inc. "We have done this for over 20 years, and have never lost a client because of poor service quality. The only difference is that now our name hangs over the door, alongside our reputation."
