Valdese Weavers
VALDESE , N.C. —Jennifer Franklin has joined upholstery fabric supplier Valdese Weavers as senior design coordinator. She will focus on new product development for furniture applications.
She previously was director of design at Mastercraft Fabrics.
In her new post, Franklin reports to Maida Cameron, design director.
NEW COMPANY
Messe Frankfurt
FRANKFURT , Germany —Geert Bottger has left his position as head of the textile fairs division of trade show producer Messe Frankfurt to launch his own company.
Bottger was responsible for more than 20 textile fairs around the world held under the Messe Frankfurt banner, including Heimtextil, Interstoff Asia, Intertextile Shanghai and Beijing, Texworld and Techtextil.
Bottger's new service company will provide textile companies with support in working international markets.
Messe Frankfurt has not named a replacement.
EXECUTIVES
Microfibres
WINSTON-SALEM , N.C. —Karen Nehlsen has joined supplier Microfibres as director of design for the upholstery fabrics division.
She previously was director of design at Wexford Weaving; vice president of design for Bloomcraft, with responsibility for the Ralph Lauren and Folia lines; and director of design for Covington Fabrics.
At Microfibres, Nehlsen reports to Anthony DiFoggio, director of marketing.
Clearwater Mattress
LARGO , Fla. — Florida sleep shop chain Clearwater Mattress has promoted two people.
Scott Hall has been named executive vice president. He will oversee all operations, including retail, manufacturing and distribution. He previously was sales manager. Clearwater makes a line of mattresses for its stores.
Ed Kopchinsky has been promoted to sales manager, after three years as a store manager. He has more than 20 years mattress and furniture experience. He will oversee all aspects of retail operations at the company's 19 stores, which sell Simmons, Therapedic and Serta bedding.
LEASING DIRECTOR
L.A. Mart
LOS ANGELES —Frank Joens has been promoted to director of leasing at the L.A. Mart.
Joens previously was director of marketing for the L.A. Mart and has 18 years experience in marketing, sales and management. He started his career as a sales representative and then regional sales manager with Russ Berrie and Co.
"We were thrilled with the success of the most recent gift market, and Frank was a big part of that success," said Gerry Seibel, L.A. Mart vice president and general manager.
