Sealy among 'most admired'
By David Perry -- Furniture Today, March 28, 2004
TRINITY, N.C. — TRINITY, N.C. — For the second year in a row, Sealy has been named among America's Most Admired Companies by Fortune magazine. It is the only bedding manufacturer to make the list.
The Fortune list was generated with the help of The Hay Group, an independent global human resources consulting firm. The firm reviewed the 10 largest companies by revenues in 64 industries, including foreign forms with large U.S. operations. The companies were rated using eight criteria, including social responsibility, long-term investment value, employee talent, quality of products and services, innovation, use of corporate assets, financial soundness and quality of management.
"We are very proud of being recognized again by Fortune Magazine," said Dave McIlquham, president and CEO of Sealy. "The criteria on which the magazine bases these rankings — quality, service and innovation, to name a few — represent goals all Sealy employees strive for every day. Being the only bedding manufacturer for the second year in a row makes this honor even more significant for everyone here at Sealy."
Sealy's listing appears on page 111 of the March 8, 2004 issue of Fortune.
