FIDX to meet on March 19
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 7, 2004
GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Furniture Industry Data Exchange will meet March 19 at the airport Marriott hotel here to discuss implementation of electronic data and document standards.
"Over the last several years, FIDX meetings have focused on the technical work required to develop standards," said Ron Martell, chairman of FIDX's steering committee. "The majority of that work is now completed and numerous companies are beginning to use the new standards."
Items on the agenda include a status report on the UCC Global Standards Management Process; a discussion of standards proposed for bills of lading, freight invoice documents, and managed inventory documents; and presentations on bar code and custom upholstery option codes proposals.
Also set are briefings on radio-frequency identification and tracking technology and how it can be applied in the furniture industry, and on how companies are using FIDX-developed and FIDX-approved data standards.
