Arizona reps rejoin IHFRA

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 25, 2004

After about five years out of the fold, the Arizona Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. has rejoined the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn.

The Arizona group's officers and board of directors voted in December to restore the affiliation, effective this year. It becomes the 26th regional chapter of IHFRA.

John LiBrandi, who took over in December from John Ogden as president of the Arizona HFRA, said the association had left IHFRA when both groups were under other leadership. Since then, he said, "IHFRA has definitely made a change. They're definitely more solid financially, and they are networking more with the (regional) associations."

IHFRA President Thomas Schuckert and Executive Director Linda Ledet said they were excited to have the Arizona chapter back, and were working with the Arizona leadership to spread the word about the direction of IHFRA and the programs and benefits available.

LiBrandi said the Arizona chapter has an active membership and is strong financially.

The group operates the Arizona Furniture & Accessory Market trade show each summer in Phoenix, with the 25th anniversary edition scheduled for Aug. 27-29.

Information on the show and the chapter will be on an upcoming Web site at www.AHFRA. com, which is expected to be launched about mid-February.

At the December meeting, the chapter also presented its Retailer of the Year Award, voted on by all members, to Terri's Consign & Design, Phoenix, and its president, Terri Bowersock.
