Sunbrella launches chenille yarn

HIGH POINT — HIGH POINT — Sunbrella Decorative Fabrics launched a chenille yarn at this month's Showtime, as well as a freshened color palette influenced by European trends seen at last fall's Decosit show in Brussels.
"Texture was a huge trend at Decosit," said Gina Wicker, director of design at Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, which markets the Sunbrella line, "and our new chenille allows us to expand on the types of textures we can offer. Our Sunbrella boucle yarn has been quite successful in both interior and outdoor furniture fabrics, and the new chenille will add another layer of texture to Sunbrella furniture fabrics."
Wicker said the company's design team took part in color marketing conferences, attended trade shows and met with customers to determine which colors will have the greatest impact in the coming seasons.
"It is a wonderful benefit to be able to work with our Dickson design and sales team in France to assess the European trends," Wicker said.
The European colors were translated for the Rhythm collection with shades like Palm, Melon and Glacier.
"Palm is a fresh green that was absent from the Sunbrella palette," Wicker said. "It pairs nicely with our new Deep Sea yarn to address a trend toward more saturated and vibrant versions of traditional greens and blues."
Glen Raven also added what it called an easy-to-live-with orange, a soft red-cast gold, fresh midtone blues, a deep teal blue and a clean celadon green.
"Our focus was to bring in hues that could stand alone while also mixing well with our existing colors," Wicker said.
