GREENSBORO, N.C. — The 19th Annual Carolinas Industrial Woodworking Expo returns to the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Feb. 19-20 with displays from about 900 suppliers.
That includes 71 upholstery suppliers. The Upholstery Pavilion will feature equipment used for the making of upholstered furniture and upholstery in cars and recreational vehicles.
Events at the show include UDM magazine's 12th Annual Upholstery Management Conference the morning of Feb. 19, focusing on issues such as the delivery of custom-made upholstery, export opportunities and controlling fabric costs and inventory.
A panel discussion at 2 p.m. Feb. 19, "Furniture's Future in the Retail Revolution," will deal with the effects of changes in distribution to low-price retailers. Industry analyst Jerry Epperson will moderate.
Panelists are Art Barber of Charleston Forge, Urs Buehlmann of N.C. State University, Steve DeHaan of the National Home Furnishings Assn., Mary Frye of the Home Furnishings International Assn, former Wickes President John Klein, Ron Martell of Micro*D, Art Raymond of consulting firm A.G. Raymond and Co., and Al Wight of marketing firm Strategic Decisions.
"The diversity of the panel and the unique perspectives each person brings to it, that is what is going to make it great," said Edward Terry, an event spokesman. "We are looking for a good exchange of ideas and information."
Other seminars also are on tap.
The show, organized by Trade Shows Inc., draws about 5,000 industry buyers. For more information or to register, call TSI Expos at (828) 459-9894.
