Leda enters new categories, takes on new name

Santa Fe Springs, Calif. — Santa Fe Springs, Calif.–Leda Desk, a supplier of metal and glass desk systems, is looking to furnish more rooms of the home.
With the expansion into entertainment furniture and office chairs, the company, whose official name is Leda Home Furnishings, is adopting a new brand name, Leda Home, to reflect its expanded lineup.
Victor Huynh, marketing manager, said the transition will take place during the third quarter this year as Leda transitions the new categories from testing to actual production.
"We've grown beyond just desks, and we have the capabilities to capitalize on other furniture categories," Huynh said.
Primarily a supplier to warehouse clubs, distributors and furniture retailers, Leda already has plans to produce about a dozen office chairs that should retail from $299 to $499, and more will be added as demand justifies it. The entertainment line – currently three glass and metal units with retails of $299 — will be expanded, too, Huynh said.
To get the word out about the expanded merchandising of Leda Home, the company is planning to exhibit at more trade shows, including Tupelo, High Point and SHOPA, which is the School, Home Office Products Association.
"It's pretty much the first time we're making a concerted effort to build our brand name," Huynh said. "Leda has been out there, and we are well known as a desk supplier. But we haven't pushed it as much as we could have. This year, we have a lot lined up."
