HIGH POINT — HIGH POINT — Merchandise Mart Properties Inc., which owns Market Square and other furniture showroom buildings here, has named Walt Goldsby vice president of leasing for its High Point facilities.
He will have overall responsibility for leasing the 2.2 million square feet of permanent and temporary exhibit space owned by MMPI here.
Goldsby most recently was group vice president of VNU Expositions in Roswell, Ga., where he oversaw a portfolio of trade shows that generated more than $50 million annually. Earlier, he worked for the trade show division of Atlanta-based Semco Productions, and also served as director of the Atlanta Home Textile Center, a unit of the Atlanta Market Center.
While at AMC in the early 1990s, Goldsby worked with Tom Mitchell, who now oversees all Merchandise Mart facilities in High Point. "Walt's understanding, knowledge and industry experience will serve our community well," Mitchell said.
Goldsby replaces Tim McGee, recently named vice president of leasing at Showplace, another High Point showroom building.
Besides Market Square, MMPI owns Suites at Market Square, Hamilton Market, Plaza Suites, Furniture Plaza and the National Furniture Mart.
