Edmonton, Alberta — Edmonton, Alberta— Kim Yost, president of The Brick, has been named to the additional post of chief executive officer, succeeding Bill Comrie, who will remain chairman of Canada's fourth-largest furniture and bedding retailer.
A Canadian retail veteran, Yost was appointed The Brick's president in 2001 and since has assumed additional responsibilities. In a press release, Comrie said Yost "has successfully led the company, with a strong focus on product development and marketing initiatives, on an incredible period of growth."
Comrie will devote more time to his charitable activities and other projects.
The Brick Warehouse Corp. operates under several banners, including The Brick, Discount Jim's and Homeshow Canada. The company sold its two La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores to La-Z-Boy Canada earlier this year, and is set to enter Quebec this spring with five Brick stores in metro Montreal, backed by a 350,000-square-foot distribution center. It expects to open a second Homeshow Canada unit in metro Toronto in late 2004 or early 2005.
