DENVER — Architecture firm Roth & Sheppard here has won a 2003 AIA Denver Design Award for designing the adjoining Room & Board and Retrospect stores in the South Coast Plaza Village in Orange County California.
The adjoining furniture stores, which opened in October 2002, together have some 46,000 square feet of showroom space on two levels. The design features a stainless steel central staircase and a galvanized metal and stucco exterior.
"We see our stores as places for design inspiration, and we worked closely with Roth & Sheppard on our South Coast Plaza store to ensure it was a well-designed environment for our customers," said John Gabbert, founder and president of Room & Board.
"They captured our vision for our first store in California and we are thrilled for them to receive recognition for their outstanding work," he said.
