By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 18, 2004

NEW YORK — Two decorative fabrics producers were among the five home furnishings designers and design teams awarded the 2003 Cotton Inc. Textile Designer Awards at a reception at the American Folk Museum here.

The event, in its 22nd year, recognizes the textile industry's ability to respond to market demands by delivering new and innovative products.

Cotton Inc. also presented five apparel fabric winners, including J.B. Martin's Yaakov Shteiyer, whose novelty design was entered as an apparel fabric but also is an upholstery construction.

In home, Kathleen B. Engle of Hoffman California Fabrics won for the Bali Handprint Collection, while Craftex Mills' Kim Grimsley and Allison Hocker won for decorative fabrics.

Winners were presented with crystal prisms etched with the Seal of Cotton designed by Tiffany & Co.
