COMMERCE , Calif. — The Assn. of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers has installed its 2004 board of directors and officers.

Barry Howerton, Leggett & Platt, was elected president.

Other officers are Skip Hem, Royal Plywood Co., vice president; Joan Kemp, JK Enterprises, secretary/treasurer; and Tom Orlando, CTD Machines, past president.

Directors elected to three-year terms are Kevin Bedell, Foamex, a first-time board member; Steve Byers, Louis & Co., appointed in 2003 to fill a vacancy on the board; and Ase Stornetta, Ritter Mfg. Co, elected for a second term.

Past president Linda Buckner of Silver Linings is leaving the board after 12 years of service.

PITTSBURGH — Members of the Hardwood Manufacturers Assn. have elected new officers and directors.

The officers for 2004 are Jeff Hanks, Bill Hanks Lumber Co., Danbury, N.C., president; Jameson French, Northland Forest Products, Kingston, N.H., first vice president; Charlie Netterville, Fred Netterville Lumber Co., Woodville, Miss., second vice president; and Susan Regan, executive vice president.

Newly elected members of the board of directors are Terry Brennan, Baillie Lumber Co., Hamburg, N.Y.; Tommy Battle, Battle Lumber Co., Wadley, Ga.; Marc Lewis, Dwight Lewis Lumber Co., Hillsgrove, Pa.; Pat Kenny, Georgia-Pacific Corp., Atlanta; John Hubbard, Indiana Hardwoods, Chandler, Ind.; Jack Shannon Jr., J.T. Shannon Lumber Co., Memphis, Tenn.; Alan Kitchens, Kitchens Bros. Mfg. Co., Hazlehurst, Miss.; Holt Hogan , Ontario Hardwood Co., Keysville, Va.; and Gordon Kendrick, Wellborn Cabinet, Ashland, Ala.

Elected to the executive committee, in addition to Brennan and Shannon, are Jim Howard, Atlanta Hardwood Corp., Mableton, Ga.; Troy Brown, Kretz Lumber Co., Antigo, Wis.; Pem Jenkins, Turn Bull Lumber Co., Elizabethtown, N.C.; and Dan Harrison, Cersosimo Lumber Co., Brattleboro, Vt.

Tempur-Pedic

LEXINGTON, Ky. —Nancy Koehn has been appointed to the board of directors of visco-elastic bedding and pillow maker Tempur-Pedic International. She will serve on the audit committee.

Koehn is a professor of business administration at Harvard Business School. She has published several books on a variety of business topics. In 2001, the publication Business 2.0 named her one of 19 leading business gurus in the United States.

"We believe Koehn is an excellent choice because of her expertise on a range of subjects, including strategic branding and growth in entrepreneurial companies," said Robert Trussell, Tempur-Pedic's CEO. "We believe the board will continue to benefit from the diversity of experience of its directors."
