New RiversEdge facility to improve service
Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, April 18, 2004
LYNCHBURG, Va. — LYNCHBURG, Va.— Case goods importer RiversEdge Furniture has expanded services by consolidating some of its Lynchburg-area operations into a new headquarters and retail service center.
This past winter, the company closed two other facilities in Lynchburg and moved into a new 125,000-square-foot building. About 30,000 square feet is devoted to parts procurement, and the remainder is administrative offices and warehouse operations.
The building greatly increases the company's ability to handle retailer requests for parts. In the past, RiversEdge carried 20% of the parts for its products. By midsummer, it expects to carry 80% of the parts and ship most within 48 hours, said Managing Partner Mark Stubstad.
The building also will warehouse and ship finished goods.
RiversEdge specializes in master bedroom, dining room and occasional furniture.
It also sells youth bedroom, casual dining and entertainment furniture.
The company currently employs 35 people in the new building, but may add more depending on the demand for parts and other service.
It also plans to continue operating two other Lynchburg-area warehouses, which total 30,000 and 65,000 square feet, respectively.
Warehouse operations are continuing to grow in importance for U.S.-based importers, allowing them to help their customers control inventory.
RiversEdge also has a warehouse in Asia.
