Rowe sets two events for market
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 18, 2004
HIGH POINT — HIGH POINT— Upholstery maker Rowe Furniture will host two events during the April market here.
On Thursday, April 22 at 6 p.m., the company will present "Understanding the Female Furniture Shopper" by marketing consultant Elena Salij. Food and wine will be served in the Rowe showroom in space C-1058 of the International Home Furnishings Center.
On Friday, April 23, the company will partner with Dwell magazine to host a creative social evening for market attendees.
Salij heads a New York-based marketing research and consulting firm, advising marketers and advertising agencies on consumer trends, attitudes and behavior.
She is on the faculty of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., where she lectures and heads a design/research studio on the future of retailing. She has a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College and a master of architecture degree from Harvard.
"Rowe offers its retailers as many selling tools as possible," said Stefanie Lucas, Rowe's senior vice president. "Research mixed with practical tips is the best approach, and Elena knows how to engage an audience and help retailers discover new, effective ways to communicate."
For the Friday social, Rowe's Robin Bruce showroom area will feature blank canvases, a word-wall and a Zen tabletop sandbox, along with paintbrushes. Visitors will be encouraged to let their creativity flow, tap into their inner artist and have fun.
"Robin Bruce is all about the most creative fabric combinations and styles," said Lucas. "Our design team pushes themselves creatively and we see the results at market. We now want to inspire our buyers' creativity in some fun ways."
