Portfolio taps Kaplan

BETHPAGE, N.Y. — Burt Kaplan has been named president of Portfolio, the piece goods division of Kravet, a high-end decorative fabrics, furniture and furnishings jobber/distributor. Previously, the division had no president.
Kaplan joined the company last year to develop a fabric program geared to the upholstered furniture market. He reports to company principals Cary Kravet and Scott Kravet.
Meri Stevens will continue to direct the development, merchandising and sales activities of the division's Laura Ashley collection.
