Baratta, Stout promoted at La-Z-Boy

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 18, 2004

Looking to strengthen its dedicated store network, La-Z-Boy has promoted David Baratta and Blaine Stout to newly created posts in La-Z-Boy Residential.

Baratta has been named vice president of real estate development, while Stout is now vice president and general manager of La-Z-Boy Retail.

"The rapid growth of the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries network has been key to our recent success," said John Case, president of La-Z-Boy branded product. "We are confident that David and Blaine have the expertise and drive to direct our aggressive effort to open more successful proprietary stores."

In his new post, Baratta is responsible for site review, approval, and related activities for independent and company-owned stores. He reports to Ken Salm, vice president of sales.

Baratta joined La-Z-Boy in 2001 as director of real estate. Earlier, he was vice president of real estate, construction and legal for Builders Square, a unit of Kmart.

Stout, who joined La-Z-Boy in 1995 as Western regional sales manager, is now responsible for business development and expansion of company-owned La-Z-Boy stores. He reports to Case.

Most recently, Stout was general manager of the retail division. Before joining La-Z-Boy, he held various sales and merchandise management posts with Schwei-ger Inds., served as a sales and marketing representative for Sealy, and was a store manager at Wickes and Rhodes.
