Setting the record straight
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 18, 2004
As avid readers of your publication, we certainly appreciate your coverage (Furniture Today, Dec. 22, page 23) of our new fiber products, recently introduced at Showtime in High Point. However, there were several quotes attributed to me that contain incorrect statements. We would like to set the record straight.
The recently introduced solution dye polyester filament fiber, Dacron Vibrance, is produced by a manufacturing alliance between Invista (formerly DuPont Textiles and Interiors) and Unifi. Under the terms of the alliance, Americas Filament, a business unit of Invista, and Unifi cooperatively run their polyester filament manufacturing facilities. Americas Filament manages the production planning and scheduling. Invista owns the polyester filament plant in Kinston, N.C., and Unifi owns the Yadkinville, N.C. plant. Invista and Unifi continue to own and operate their respective sites and employees remain with their respective employers. Americas Filament continues to provide partially oriented polyester filament to the marketplace using Invista technology to expand the specialty product range at alliance sites.
We at Invista are proud to continue the tradition of developing innovative products for the textile industry, most recently the super microdenier Micromattique microfiber and Dacron Vibrance solution-dyed polyester for home textiles.
