DALTON, Ga. — Teen superstars Mary-Kate and Ashley have signed a licensing agreement with Shaw Living for a collection of rugs targeted to tween and teen-age girls.
The rugs, for girls age 5 to 19-plus, will debut at this week's Atlanta International Rug Market, which opens Jan. 15. The Mary-Kate and Ashley Collection will consist of about 20 styles of rugs, including funky florals, bold geometrics and other trendy motifs.
The printed nylon and shag rugs will feature a vivid color palette of blue, purple, green, orange, pink and yellow.
"The creative approach to the Mary-Kate and Ashley Collection was inspired by the latest fashion trends, and the hip combinations of color, texture and pattern will be the perfect complement to any young girl, tween, teen or college student's room," said Jeff Meadows, vice president of Shaw Living.
"The Mary-Kate and Ashley brand provides trend-right designs in area rugs specially designed for their fans," said Robert Thorne, chief executive officer of Dualstar Consumer Products of Los Angeles, the brand's international corporate group.
Other Mary-Kate and Ashley products include videos, video games, fashion dolls, books and fashion and beauty products.
Shaw Living is a division of Shaw Inds., a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, which also owns several major furniture retailers.
