Austin, Shaak leave Hickory White
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 11, 2004
HICKORY, N.C. — Randy Austin and Bob Shaak have resigned their respective positions of president and vice president of sales at high-end case goods manufacturer and importer Hickory White.
Austin had been president of Hickory White since the company's purchase by the Sherrill Cos. in 1997. He was Hickory White's chief executive officer from late 1991 to 1997, and previously was president of Riverside and Hammary and had held executive posts at Hickory Chair and Drexel Heritage.
Shaak had joined Hickory-White in March 2003 from Thomasville, where he worked for 29 years, most recently as senior vice president and chief marketing officer for the company's retail division.
"We will miss the contributions of both of these two industry veterans at Hickory-White," said Jim Adams, chief executive officer for Sherrill's wood divisions. "Their sudden departures will leave a temporary void in our management structure."
No replacements have been named, and Adams said he is evaluating a new management structure for the Sherrill wood divisions, including Hickory White, CTH-Sherrill Occasional and Theodore Alexander North America.
"We will evaluate our needs over the next few weeks before announcing a new structure for the company," Adams said.
