Dorell unveils Adaptations

HIGH POINT — Dorell Fabrics has developed a collection of high-performance fabrics called Adaptations that combines microdenier solids, microdenier patterns and polyurethane fabrics in a range of prices and qualities.
The collection is debuting at this week's Showtime fabric fair.
"Adaptations is a natural evolution to solid suedes," said Dorell President Arnie Chasen. "Microdenier suedes have performed very well at retail, with many stores showing multiple slots of stationary upholstery along with motion and recliners.
"Our customers are always looking to take success stories to the next level, and Adaptations gives them the tools to do so — and create fresh looks while still offering the consumer a high-tech, high-performance cover story."
Adaptations price points will range from less than $5 to more than $8, according to Sid Wanerman of SRA Fabrics, which represents Dorell.
"Our suede programs have been as successful at the high end as they have at the promotional end," Wanerman said. "D'Oro Suede is our flagship product and it continues to be a best seller, but we also sell a great deal of promotional suede. Adaptations offers combinations that can include both of these price points."
"The major players agree that microdenier suedes will continue to be important for some time to come," said Shelly Rosenberg of SRA Fabrics. "It has outstanding durability, great cleanability, offers a fantastic color story and a great, soft hand."
Adaptations offers hundreds of combinations, including Endurance, a microfiber texture; Casa, a high-tech polyurethane; and Dorell's microdenier suede solids and patterns, which include flannels, mini-textures and herringbones.
Dorell and SRA exhibit at Showtime in the Suites at Market Square, Dorell in space 1-518 and SRA in space 1-604.
