HIGH POINT MARKET: Taracea to introduce Hearst Castle furniture
First pieces in case goods line to debut this month
Heath Combs -- Furniture Today, April 17, 2009
SAN SIMEON, Calif. — High-end furniture producer Taracea will produce a case goods collection based on and inspired by pieces in the Hearst Castle, former home of the late publishing giant William Randolph Hearst.
The Hearst Castle Collection is the first licensing agreement for the privately held Mexico-based manufacturer, said Russell Towner, vice president of sales and marketing.
The full collection of 25 pieces will launch at the October High Point Market. Taracea will show a few of the items in High Point this month, Towner said. The company shows in the International Home Furnishings Center, H-1103.
The collection features hand-crafted veneers, inlay and marquetry in adaptations of pieces in the Hearst Castle. It also includes new designs based on the architecture and historically important furnishings of the home.
"We've found a perfect partner in Taracea. They have the design sophistication, unique resources, skill and experience that are required to execute our vision," Dallas Saunders of Hearst Castle Collection said in a press release.
Hearst Castle, in San Simeon, Calif., is a California State Historical Monument. William Randolph Hearst designed the 165-room estate in collaboration with pioneering architect Julia Morgan. The property includes more than 20,000 original antiques, artworks and antiquities.
Hearst Castle also has home furnishings licensing agreements with Habersham, Barclay Butera Home and Castilian.
