Loudermilk pledges $3M

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 7, 2003

Charlie Loudermilk, chairman and chief executive officer of Atlanta-based Aaron Rents, has pledged $3 million to help build a cardiac and vascular treatment, screening and diagnostic center at a hospital in this southwest Georgia city.

His personal donation to the John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital will be the lead gift toward construction of the $14.3 million facility. Work is expected to begin in the spring.

"I am really impressed with how they run this hospital," said Loudermilk, who serves on the hospital's board and lives part time at his quail-hunting and farming plantation in nearby Coolidge, Ga. He said the hospital operates the only trauma center in southwest Georgia and has a talented staff attracted by the area's rural lifestyle.

He said he hoped his gift would inspire others to contribute. The hospital is named after a former General Motors chairman who also had local ties.
