High Point — Transportation Insight, a Hickory-based transportation logistics and consulting company, is expanding its presence here in a bid to gain more furniture industry business.
The company has hired three sales representatives in the High Point area, bringing its total sales force to 20. The company also has reps in Florida, Georgia and Arkansas, and may add more in North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and nearby states. The new reps are Curt Minaya in Burlington, Stacy Dillon in Greensboro and Mike Thomas in High Point.
Along with furniture manufacturers and retailers, Transportation Insight serves the automotive and textile industries and big-box retailers. Furniture represents about 50% of its business.
"We have identified the High Point area as a market of importance to us, not just because it is furniture based, but because of the number of clients in the market and its proximity to our customer density," said company co-founder Paul Thompson.
Launched in 1999, Transportation Insight maintains that its services can reduce its clients' freight costs. It offers rate negotiation, contract administration, simplified freight-cost models for purchasing decisions, routing guides and carrier selection assistance.
"We bring a total supply chain solution to our customers, centered around processes that reduce costs," Thompson said.
