Greensboro, N.C. — Unifi, one of the world's largest producers and processors of textured yarns used in upholstery fabrics, has been recognized for its efforts to develop "green" business solutions.
The company was a recipient of Save Our State's second annual North Carolina Sustainable Business Awards.
"We are excited to receive an award recognizing our environmental initiatives in our first year of involvement with Save Our State," said Kimberley Lewis, manager, brand and retail marketing for Unifi. "As the only large business chosen this year, we are proud to be considered a leader in the movement towards earth-friendly business practices."
Unifi's worldwide facilities participate in environmentally responsible practices such as recycling, pre-treating effluent and using reclaimed energy, returnable packaging and certified dyestuffs.
