Nantong Dongfang receives lower antidumping duty rate

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 20, 2009

The U.S. Department of Commerce has corrected the antidumping duty rate for a Chinese wood bedroom producer that should have been dropped from last year's administrative review.

The company, Nantong Dongfang Oriental Furniture Co. Ltd., was originally listed as one of the companies assigned a 216% duty rate.

However, the company actually had its name rescinded from the 2007 review period. During that review, companies are audited to determine whether they should receive a higher or lower duty rate based on their wood bedroom furniture shipment activity for the year in question.

Since Nantong had its name rescinded from the review, it should have received a separate duty rate of 7.24%. That duty applies to all wood bedroom furniture shipments the manufacturer made during calendar year 2007.
