Spring Air debuts visco-elastic foam line

Elk Grove Village, Ill. — Spring Air is jumping into the red-hot visco-elastic foam arena with its Sleep Fitness line.
The line's three beds, which start at $1,299 and top out at $1,999, offer a deeper profile, sleep cooler and are more comfortable than competitors' products, said Jim Nation, Spring Air president.
The bedding features an 11-inch core that includes seven inches of polyurethane foam and four inches of visco-elastic foam.
"We are offering a more comfortable version in a beefier profile," Nation said. "The surface incorporates seven pressure-relieving zones. This Surface Modification Technology offers improved airflow and better conformance for the body."
The beds have a double-stretch knit cover and are tailored like a conventional sleep set.
Nation said the new line continues Spring Air's tradition of offering a wide range of bedding models.
"Retailers are looking for a variety of products to provide consumers who have an array of specific needs with options when shopping for a new mattress," he said. "With Sleep Fitness, we are expanding our portfolio collection strategy to include even more choices."
The beds are produced using Foamex's Variable Pressure Foaming process, which utilizes a vacuum chamber to virtually eliminate fluctuations in pressure, temperature and humidity, according to Spring Air. Sleep Fitness beds will maintain their elasticity far longer than conventional foam mattresses, the company said.
The Surface Modification Technology allows air to flow on top of the mattress, creating a cooler sleeping surface, according to Spring Air.
Spring Air is showing Sleep Fitness to select retailers, with shipments to begin in December.
